We left Dubai Copthorne hotel at 5.30am. The heat was still stifling even that early.  The airport is so organised, the process was seamless. I was finally able to book our hire car to be picked up that afternoon which had been stressing me a little  (a lot really). The 7 hour flight seemed quite short in comparison to the 14 hours the day before.
On our arrival in Amsterdam we got our car, new phone number and headed on our way. DB handled the driving very well, the practise a few years ago helped him but was a little scary as we were on the freeway within 5 mins. We found our way to the apartment, the owners were lovely. After a short break we walked 10mins to the beach which was being set up for the carnival. They have created a sand running track and flags area on the boulevard. The craft is all starting to arrive. DB quite surprised the water temp about 21′.

After a walk and visit to the shops which takes a long time trying to decipher food names, especially with my diet, we headed out for dinner to a cafe/restaurant on the sand. Was a very nice meal with a great atmosphere.
