Davistown to Nyngan NSW

Sunday 20 June 2021
Well we were hoping to get away early this morning but unfortunately a late night followed by difficulty sleeping we failed yet again. We mucked around a little with finishing touches to packing, experimented with the new bike rack, then decided it was too risky to take it on a big trip without a test run, so left it behind, car out, then car in, then out again, tyres up, tyres down, then up again. We finally headed off at 11.30am, with a couple of pitstops to pump up the tyres, pick something up at Super Cheap, then drop in to Mark’s, we were finally on our way at 12.20pm. Predictably almost lunch time again. Oh well, we got going eventually.

Unfortunately it was raining which added to our slow departure, will we or will we not make it to Nyngan. Hopefully as I would like to make it to Menindee Lake tomorrow. David took the first shift driving in the rain and busy freeway traffic. Eekk! I took over at Warkworth just after 2pm and drove about 200km to Dunedoo. Then DB drove again all the way to Nyngan. We saw a little wildlife – some Eastern Rosellas with the most vibrant green breast, one fox, one rabbit, five mice and a lot of dead roos. A late arrival at 7.54pm, not a good start, we have made the decision again to try and stop before dark as it is quite difficult to find your spot as well as locate the camp kitchen and bathrooms, etc. So let’s see how we go – hopefully we can get it together.

After a lovely dinner, we finally made it up into our rooftop bed for the night. We are both exhausted as we only managed about 5 hours sleep last night and have had a massive day today. Hopefully we sleep well tonight. Nighty night. xx
