Davistown to Belmont to Mt Kaputar National Park near Narrabri NSW

Wednesday 12th and Thursday 13th July
After a catchup with Gavin and his kids on Monday, a big day of packing and David finally finishing an urgent job for work, we finally left home at about 4pm on Wednesday afternoon. Yeehah! We are free to travel again. This afternoon we have a short drive to Belmont to see the kids before we are on our way for our next adventure.

After a nice night with the kids we have today (Thursday) headed to the park at Seers Point for a play and picnic lunch. The girls enjoyed scootering around, the slippery dip and flying fox. We then enjoyed a nice picnic and were on our way at about 1.45pm. Another late start but hopefully we can get into the groove of things shortly.

We drove from Speers Point through Singleton, Musselbrook and Murrurundi. The sky was clear and the weather quite warm in the car. As we approached Willow Tree it was nearing decision making time. It was about 4.45pm and sunsent today is 5.17pm. Will we stay the night here or have a quick dinner and continue on. After a little debating we decided on dinner and a late night drive. Hopefully there won’t be too many roos out tonight.

We then drove through Quirindi, Gunnedah, Boggabri and then headed back east just south of Narrabri. We still had a 50km drive along a narrow road up 1200m in elevation. The road was dirt for a while as well. The road was only wide enough for one car in some places so it will be an interesting drive back down tomorrow. I am looking forward to seeinbg the views as it looked like sheer drops at the edge of the road. Only time will tell on that one. Lucky for us we only encountered 3 kangaroos, who as always hopped across the road in front of us.

We had booked our campsite in the National Park so it was easy to find our spot and get set up quickly. We arrived at about 8.30pm and were up in bed in the warm very quickly as it is only 3°C outside. Hopefully we won’t freeze tonight.

Anyway, we are ready for all weather. So wish us luck on our new adventure. We will be missing one of our avid followers this time around. It was really strange not to say goodbye to our wonderful neighbour Bob, as we headed off on this adventure, but I am sure he will be watching down on us and following our travels once again.
