Davistown to Cassilis, NSW

Monday 9th May 2022
Well after a number of days failing to leave on our Northern Territory road trip, we are finally on our way. At about 11am. After a few stops to pick up last minute things we are finally leaving Lisarow at 1.15pm. At last we are on our way, deciding as we drive which direction we will head. Option 1. Blackheath for a walk at the Blue Mountains or towards Dubbo. The weather factored in and we decided on heading northwest but it was too far to make it to Dubbo tonight so our aim was then as far as Merriwa. It was a lovely drive once the rain stopped at about Maitland. The countryside is quite green. We arrived at Merriwa at 4.30pm and intended stopping for the night but the caravan park was no bigger than a horse corral and the only spots available were right on the main road. We decided to continue on another 30mins to the Cassilis Showgrounds which was a good distance from the main road near the bowling club. We managed to get here just before dark.

I have had my first buster and we haven’t even made it in the bush yet. I will have matching knees and hands with you Bob but luckily I didn’t break any bones. I will let you know tomorrow what else hurts. It was only 3°C here last night but the forecast is for a low of 10°, so hopefully they are correct. It is cool but not too cold yet.

It was great to finally be on our way. We travelled 287km today.
