Cuisenaire rods were originally designed to make mathematics “visible” in that the principles such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and even fractions can be demonstrated visually through the use of different lengths of coloured rods which represent numbers. Australian made Cuisenaire rods have been made by the same Australian company since 1973.
