The Petrikirche is an Evangelical church in Chemnitz , which was built from 1885 to 1888 to a design by the Leipzig architect Hans Enger as a neo-Gothic hall church . The church stands on Theaterplatz and thus in the immediate vicinity of the Opera House and the Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz . The church with 1200 seats is made of sandstone and brick , is 59 m long and 36 m wide. Their iron roof construction was made by the Queen Mary’s hut , today’s tower bells are from the destroyed during the war Lukas Church.
